Slipping belt questions...
#11
Im not leaning toward the oil being tranny oil. Its sticky like gear oil, not just slippery like motor oil.
Looking at the taredown its a easy replacement. Just wondering if the staft is worn causing the seal to leak...
In any event, its going to the dealer as its still under warenty.

Well I dropped it off Thursday afternoon... They said that they had never seen that before...
I also dropped the hammer on a EPI Clutch kit. I noticed that the price went up by almost 100$!!! It WAS just over $100, now its listed as $199. I went to flea bay where I had marked a long auction. They had it for $106 shipped so I grabbed it.
I have no idea what the cause will be, but suspect either bad seal from day one or maybe something go between the seal and caused the leak. The shifter also works hard, easier when not running but not allot better. Also you can shift into park and HI with out pressing the brake.
They said they would likely look at it today, if parts needed to be ordered, they would let me know. Otherwise I should have it back Thursday. I will post up the findings...

You can shift in to park or high without pressing the brake but according to the mfr supposed to use the foot brake or damage can occur. I got in to the habit of doing that in all gears. As for shifting hard, have them check the housing on the tranny that the shift rod goes to. They didn't seal them well at all-no gasket either. My 09 800 was doing that especially in the cold. I pulled it off to find a half-baked silicone seal(factory) and there are also two shafts coming out of the housing that should have o-rings on them(one is for the shifter and the other is for gear indicator). Mine was missing one. I installed the other o-ring, made a gasket for it, and used anaerobic sealant(expensive but worth it). Moisture was getting in and freezing which made it shift really hard. After that fix it glided through all gears even in below 0 weather.

Thanks for the tips! Hopefully the dealer will find the issue and correct it.
I bought a couple manuals, a factory, a Cloyes and a specific one for the Twins, 600-700 & 800.
I bought this used, but in immaculate condition. So much so that the dealer warrantied it as if a new machine. I have put about 35 miles on it since taking possession. I do use the brake to shift, but it makes no difference in the way it shifts. It is a bit easier to shift when not running, but not allot.
I'll check what your telling me once I get it back, when I have it apart for the clutch kit install.
Thanks again,

UPDATE:
I spoke with the dealer today...
Seems the main shaft in the transmittion is bad. :yikes: Bad where the seal rides and inside causing the hard shifting. It should be done early next week.
I'll post back up once I get it back and see how it works!!

Yes, full warranty.
I got my clutch kit today too!! I read and read, everything said I would only need the primary removal tool. (Which I have) but I have two springs... looks like a primary and a secondary spring... I do not have a secondary press.
Anyone know if this is doable without one??
I should have machine back next Thursday, the 27Th. I'll likely install it next weekend.
