secondary help needed-aaen blue installed
#1
i just had my local shop install my aaen blue secondary set 2-2. im still on my stock primary as of right now. ive taken it for a quick ride and it takes off good but seems to stop building power under full throttle. im not sure on how to explain it better. kinda feels like im hitting a wall. if i let off and slow down a litttle and get back on it the back shift seems really good.
could it be something simple like im still on the stock primary? im waiting for my new spring currently. could i throw in the red polaris i have laying around?

It could be to much spring tension for the rest of your set up and it cant fully open the secondary clutch making it not pull hard on the top end or not enough spring tension and is opening to fast and slipping and bogging down.
Also if the secondary spring wasn't wound properly it can cause clutching issues. I would have to know more info the to be able to tell you any more.

so i called the shop and asked a few more questions. it was preloaded counter clockwise 1/4 turn.
so in a attempt to preload it 1/3 turn im going to pull the C-clip off, lift it out enough to spin it a little more, push down and reset clip.
sound about right?

When you take your C-clip off to set your preload see if the clutch unwinds itself. If it doesn't then the preload wasn't set properly.Depending on how old the buttons are and the level of mods that you have it probably wouldn't be a bad idea to check your secondary buttons for wear as well.
Depending on how long you plan on keeping your Polaris and the level of mods that you have done to it or plan on doing to it you might be better off investing in a Team Roller Secondary Clutch. The longer that you keep your Polaris and the more mods that you do it in the future they are much less of a headache than the factory Polaris Secondary's with the teflon coated buttons as far as reliability goes. They are also much easier to change the springs in as well.

Back when I was using the factory Polaris Secondary and would have to take it apart and put it back together I would mark the point where I was starting at and then make another mark where 1/3 of a turn would be.I also had someone help me with setting the preload. One of us would turn the clutch assembly while the other would push down on the helix at the 1/3 of a turn mark and then put the snap ring on.

I would just contact Aaen.(262) 552-8981 , thats the great part about dealing with them, there is no experimenting, they already tried every spring and weigh compo and know which will work for you.
