Boo, my fender bag/stealth drink holder doesn't fit on the 850. I have to get a new one.
I really do like the racks on my 2000 model much better, but oh well. I will get used to these I guess.

Picked it up today and there is already a few things that need to be fixed. The gas gauge shows it is empty, even though it is full. The dealer has a new sensor on order for me. Also, something doesn't seem quite right with the clutch. it engages a little to high and causes it to jerk when it first takes off. Other than that, it makes some funny noises after it is shut down that I wanted to ask about.

The clutch is really grabby and takes some getting use to. It gets better with miles but it's still very abrupt and makes a cringe worthy metallic snap when it engages. The best way I've found to overcome the abruptness in slow trail crawling situations is to hold the brake until the clutch grabs and then let off brake. Makes creeping over very technical obstacles or placing it precisely on ramps or on a trailer much easier. The driveline and clutch make some disconcerting noises but it's all supposedly normal.

The exhaust makes lots of noise after you shut the machine off and it begins to cool down.

That grab when starting off was a problem for me also but learned to watch the RPM and learn when it was going to connect, made it simpler trying to climb the steps out of the back yard without leaving me on my backside with a ATV on top.

It isn't a big deal so much when I am riding it normally. It is only when I am pulling it into the back of the truck or parking it in a tight spot.

I do feel better about the sounds after shutting it down. It sounded like I had a small transformer in the engine every time I shut it down.

The fender bag bothers me more. Now I have to get another one. My neighbor suggested cutting a hole in the rack to allow it to slip through, but I just can't bring myself to start cutting into a 2 day old machine. Oh well, my fender bag is pretty shot anyway. It looks like it has been chewed up and spit out twice. It even had a small family of field mice living in it at one time, so I guess I can get a new one.

One other thing, I have been looking all over the place for the battery. The service manual shows it to be under the seat laying sideways, but it is definitely not there. Any ideas where I should look. I need to hook up my battery tender connector.

Unless Polaris put a plastic cover over the battery it and the cables should be visible at the rear of the seat area.

It is definitely not under the seat. I think it somewhere up front, but I have looked all over and I cannot find it anywhere. I have seen some pictures of the 2010 battery locations and you can see it from the wheel well, but mine is not there at all.

edit: nevermind, I just found it. It is under the front rack in the middle, behind the radiator. It is camouflaged very well.

That's something that bugs me about mine is that there is no good place to strap fender bags. Even with the front box I still like fender bags because they're quicker to access and easier to get to. That and I like having the extra storage room.

My plan is to pop rivet some sort of small 1 inch wide D ring to the top of the fender under the rack/box that will accept the straps from a fender bag. I'm just trying to find the right hardware to use. A D ring about 1 inch or 1/1/2 inch wide with a an attachment point I can rivet.

not trying to bad mouth warn, but i wouldn't call them the "snap on" of winches, there are much better companies out there for less, look at Viper elite winches if you have a chance, wired and wireless remotes, synthetic rope, rollers, and bunch of extras, all standard on theirs
