1987 trail boss 250 2x4
hey whats up guys , came on this web sit about a month ago and ask a question about my trail boss .The trail boss was not starting , well it would start for about a second then when I went to give it gas it died. So I cleaned the carb really good and tried to start it agian and the same thing happened . Got a compression tester and the compression reads only 100psi , now someone told me that it is the crank case seals. Was wondering if that person was right , and if it is were could I order them and do you guys know any web sits that would show me how to install them. Thanks guys everyone has been a great help

Hey shaun:
You can get crank seals from Babbitt's Online, and other sites such as Cheap Cycle Parts (look in the crankcase and cylinder assembly section, you want the "oil seal", #6 in the parts list at Babbitt's)
I recommend getting the Haynes manual, or equivalent (I think Clymer has one for the same models too) -- real handy for the tinkering you will need to do.
One tip to pull out the old seals is to drill a screw in the edge of the seal to use to pull it out.
Search this site for posts on the subject, there is a lot of good, detailed info.
