Default 400 xplorer start and die?

My 400 will start and die. It only fires once. I changed the plug, checked fuel going into carb, remover bowl and checked fuel is coming through the float valve, and floats are fine. HELP !!!!!!!

Disconnect black wire from cdi module to eliminate left kill switch,if runs switch could have short.
If no change, check brown wires(ground wires) going to frame. If no change, possible pulser (trigger) coil or stator itself could be weak. Manual or electrical schematic with resistance values needed to check out stator and pulser coil (trigger coil as it is sometimes referred as) Also plug cap should show right at 5000 ohms resistance, plus check spark plug wire for shorts and the ground wires are tight at coil mount on frame. OPT

Thanks. I will check that. It's puzzling that it is firing and hits one good time like it's going to start and then dies. It will not hit again unless I wait a few min. ???

Did you try to hold throttle wide open while trying to crank? Crank case could be flooded or could have a compression or leaking clutch side crank seal?? OPT

Yes it is, but I drained it and no more has appeared. I think someone poured oil in there to free up the rope start.
