Default electrical problem

my 2006 800 started to kill the battery when it is running. the voltage drops drastically. the battery symbol flashes and the speedo needle flashes untill the quad backfires and dies. with the key off the voltage iss 11.9 volts but it will not start. i have replaced the battery and everything is a ok for a day or so and the problrm starts again. anybody else with the same problem or a fix?

Check wiring at voltage regulator at front of machine for loose wires,if has good connections then check battery voltage as machine is running. Should be around 14 volts. If showing under(12 volts are less) or overs(say about 16 volts could be shorted out eating up batteries) Either case usually voltage regulator problem, probably needs replacement. OPT
