I have 99 magnum 500 and i was on the trails the other day and heard a weird sound coming from under the bike like the starter engaged then the sound stopped but when i shut off the bike to get gas it wouldn't start all i get is some clicking from the solenoid lights are bright so dont know what it could be

 

Check with a test light to starter lead when trying to crank,if has12 volts then not the solenoid. is battery good? If so then probable starter bad,dragging.Either brush kit or replace starter,plus starter bendix(gear shaft) inside recoil could be worn and binding. Just start at the battery connections, then the solenoid connections,starter,then bendix. You will find the problem. OPT
