2012's are out. Polaris came out with a 850HO with bigger throttle bodies and updated air intake. 7 HP increase, 20% claim faster of the line. Same weight and everything else it looks the same.

Well, to Polaris, I say, "Big Whoop". If I was concerned with HP alone I'd get a CanAm 1000. How about EPS on the X2? How about a Renegade beater? Ugghhh... While not just, "Bold New Graphics", it's a disappoint to everyone but the "high speed is everything". We can learn the chant from the Honda guys. "Maybe next year, maybe next year, maybe next year...."

They did put out a RZR with a 570cc engine for the economy minded consumer. Not a bad idea. The rest of the lineup didn't look changed much to me.

I agree. A little more power when the competition raises the bar dramatically, means nothing. This has been done by Polaris many times now. 2001 they had the 500 HO, 2008 they had the 800 HO. They were very good improvements, but were behind the competition every time.

Unless AC does something with their 1000 (like they did with the Wildcat engine), Can Am will dominate in the big bores....and rather handily. Polaris is back to "ride comfort" (which is true), but it gets old, like new styling on a Foreman.

I noticed how Polaris is only comparing their XP 850 to the Grizzly 700 and Brute Force 750. Not surprising they aren't comparing to CanAm anymore.

I notice the weight difference in the 850 XP and the Outty 1000 is only about 34 lbs difference, with the XP being the heavier of the two. Only ~5-6 hp difference also.

I know it would have added more weight, but if they could have put the 900 into the XP, it would have squashed the 1000 from both AC and CanAm.

The 1000 in the Wildcat with 50mm throttle bodies is rumored in the 95 HP range though. Will be interesting in the near future.

I think they'll do it eventually but I think Can-Am is always working on their lineup. Two of the big issues with me were the weak frame and the length of time it took the front to engage. From the sounds of it they took care of those two issues. I'll watch the Can-Am forums and see how the frames hold up over the next year or so. Without the 900 I think Can-Am has the speed lead for a while.

To bad the MSRP is the same as it was for a RZR 800 from last year! $9,999 for a 570 or +$1,000 for the 800???

Yeah, I'd spend the extra for the 800 too just to have the extra juice the few times the 500 runs out of steam. A 500 class does fine in almost all situations. The two situations I've noticed a lack is when in high gear going up a long steep hill or in high gear in the wintertime on a wide open trail. Just doesn't have the top end needed to haul my bulk around and is worse with a passenger.
