Default Thanks For Recall Info....Dealer Fixed It

You guys on this forum really helped by pointing out the recall on these ECM's. The dealer at first pretended to be unaware of any recall but when told of the information gathered on this forum, he rechecked and then agreed to install the new one free of charge. The ATV is now back in working order and my neighbor (the owner) was so thankful, he bought me a case of beer!
I hope this thread has helped others on this forum. This is the value of sites like these. Thanks again.............

Glad your neighbor got it fixed! Enjoy the beer and tell your neighbor to find a new dealer who's more up on whats happening and more willing to work with customers! OPT

Our local dealer denies that there is a recall on ALL of these. Can someone provide a link to any proof. I know several people who still have the old black boxes and I know of plenty that have burnt and almost caused the ATV to burn to the ground. They have been paying for the replacements

ATV QUAD NEWS Click on recalls, scan down to Polaris(second page on recalls, second listing on Polaris expanded recalls),will show the updated list affecting about 95,000 units from 2004 to 2006! Print it and show to your dealer! OPT

This website is very complicated with so many categories. I hunted all over it for "quad news" "recalls" and could never find it. Tell again how to get there from the home page.

Haven't looked up the Polaris list, but saw this one first, others may have a better way to show the list,I'm still computer stupid! Just google ATV QUAD NEWS,on the home page go down the left hand list to ATV RECALLS,will bring up the first page,go to the SECOND page and click on the SECOND Polaris expanded recall listing and will show ALL the models from 2004-2006. I'm not computer savy enough to post links you can click on like the smart guys are! My son hasn't educated me enough yet!! OPT

Default Battery Drain

The Polaris HO doesn't have an ECM, but has a rectifier. I found the rectifier has about a 2 ma drain on the battery. After buying a new one, I found it to be the same. The dealer in town first told me they couldn't be checked, and after I showed them the problem, they said there is nothing wrong with it. I guess Polaris thinks this is acceptable. It is enough to drain a strong battery in about 2 weeks. Now they advise me to use a battery tender. I'm using a toggle switch to shut off the rectifier when I shut the machine off instead.

What year ot 500H.O are you talking about. The 2005 is on the ECM recall list. Also the 2005 Scambler and Sportmam 450 all of which never had EFI ever. I think the first ECM ATV was 2004.5 models.
