Default 700 EFI Sportsman check engine light?

Hi all. I have a ’06 700EFI Sportsman that the check engine light has been coming on occasionally. It doesn’t do it all the time and it doesn’t stay on. I notice it mostly if I am sitting idling but I have seen it come on while riding also. Any ideas on what could be causing it? I don’t notice it running any differently or anything.

I am actually looking at possibly trading it in this weekend on a 500 Ranger and was going to be honest with the salesman about the light but wanted to get your thoughts on what the problem could be. Obviously I want to get the most I can out of my trade in so maybe it is something simple to fix before I take it in.

The only way to find out may be to let them hook it to their diagnostics system to find out but some of you may have had the same issue and can give me some ideas on what might be causing it.

Turn igniton on three times w/o starting. On the third key-on leave it on but do not start the motor. "wait" will appear on the LCD screen, then it will flash the trouble codes on the screen. It's handy to have a pen and paper as their might be more than one. My guess is you'll see 41, and 45 (maybe others) but this indicates a T-Bap sensor issue. Usually the sensor isn't at fault, usually it's the wiring harness going to the sensor. I'm not sure how to link stuff on the computer, but theres a really helpful page on this website "spilling the beans on the Polaris T-Bap wiring issue". It's under one of the help sections at the top of the main Polaris page. Hopefully someone thats a little more computer savvy will chime in.

Thanks guys. I just tried it and got two codes, 41 & 46. Would that still be the same issue? It sounds like the sensor fix is relatively cheap so as long as the 46 code doesn't mean something worse, I should be in good shape.

Default Check engine light......

Ok Gents,

Here's a tough one.

Just replace throttle body boot, air filter, plugs.

No. Longer getting codes 41/45 but check engine light will NOT go off.

I remove neg for a minute and codes stopped by check engine remains, with no other codes appearing.

Now here's the kicker: the fuel pump will engage but the engine will not turn over, HELP! Any idea what i need to do?

Battery is charged, i do have a spare and may change. Any chance its a solenoid?

Thx guys,
