Default Did I cause this?

Hi All....I'm still working on a 96 sportsman 400 that is "new" to me. I walked into the garage today to find a huge puddle of gasoline under it. I noticed that gasoline was dripping from the carb overflow tube. The strange thing is that I never noticed this until days after I replaced the throttle cable.

So, now, I see gas coming from the overflow tube while it's running or while it's shut off. If I turn the Fuel Lever to "Off", the leak stops. As soon as I turn it back on, the dripping begins again.

Is this an issue with the float in the carb or did I somehow cause this issue with the throttle cable insallation?

Thanks all!
-BJ

It sounds to me like the float needs adjusting.

You want to try this lil trick first before you remove and go into carb! If carb was doing good before you replaced cable the float value may have came unseated! Try this......Crank engine up than turn fuel value off [fuel cut off ****] then when engine starts running out fuel [like trying to go dead] turn fuel value back on! may need to do this an couple of times! The surge from the engine hunting gas will cause float value to suck back up into seat an re-seal! If still leaking after this then you will need to go into carb an fix!
