Default Sportman 500 HO

I have a 500 Sportsman that the cooling fan will only work periodically. I can start it with a screwdriver and it will turn automatically (sometimes). when it does turn it is making a noisy sound. Is this just possibly dirt and debris or do i need a new fan motor? any possible remedies and what needs to be checked? I hate to buy a new part! Thanks for your help.

Welcome to the forum! If you clean area around the blades and it still makes noise, runs slow, etc, and battery is ok,then probably time to replace. You can double check by running 12 volts directly to the fan and see if any change in the way it runs. OPT

welcome to the forum. it sounds like it could be the bearings are going in the fan motor if it has the correct voltage as mentioned by otp.

can buy a direct replacement on e-bay from Spal, look under polaris fans, much cheaper than dealer
