Default help

i have a 2008 500 x2 efi and its been at the dealer for 2 months and they dont know whats wrong with it. the problem started when i was riding in the woods and the machine just shut off and would not start again. i changed the battery checked fuel filter, then i thought it was something with the ignition so i changed out the ignition. still wouldnt start, my dealer states that the machine is not throwing any codes, they sent the map from the ecm and the polaris tech said that it was the coil. the coil was changed and still wont run. the dealer then switched out the ecm, and tested the spark, test the fuel pressure and still has no idea why this is not starting and run. the machine barely has 30 hrs on it. what should i do? polaris consumer service does not help with anything, i stuck in a rock and a hard place. PLEASE HELP

welcome to the forum. do you know if they checked or changed the crank sensor? could also be a bad wire harness. some people have had issues w/ part of the harnesses having borken wires. just a couple of ideas.

Thought first this model had the pdm module, but just has the regulator. Sounds like they've changed out about everything except the crank sensor as stendori mentioned If it shorts out internally or the sensor harness has a bare wire (especially by the starter) will stop em dead in their tracks! We had one similar to this that would crank intermittently, then wouldn't. Finally found a small bare wire from the crank sensor harness rubbing against the starter, wrapped it up and tied the harness up out of the way. OPT

We had a few "problem childs" during my years at the shop especially when efi came out. We'd work on em,then have to pull off and work on other machines. Two months is a little long though have to admit. Polaris expects the dealers to solve the problems but are there with technical support which I used quite often. Hopefully they will find the problem soon,if they are like we were, they're frustrated too! OPT

They got the machine to run by cleaning the connections on the relays located under the headlight pod and down the steering neck. Now he said he was driving it around and when he backed up and turned the handle bars a certain way the machine would not run. So basically the harness is being stretch he wants to put a whole new main harness or should I ask him to find the wire that is pulling and causing the short. I am already 500 into this machine and he said if he puts the harness in I will be up to 1300. What do you think I should do?
