For Christmas I got one of these as a present. It has a small mount plate in the box, a square about 10x10 or so. My quad is an 05 Sportsman 500, will this plate work for mounting it, or do I need to buy another plate made just for my quad, so no drilling will be required?

most likely you would have to buy a bracket for thatbike for an easier mounting. you may have to do some mods to use that style bracket. imo
