Default 2000 sportsman fluids

i just bought my wife a '00 sportsman 500 b/c she wanted an automatic, and was not liking my '00 bayou 220

i got a nice machine, one owner, always kept inside, 151 orig miles. it has not been used much, and i am going to change all the fluids. i have no owners manual, cant find one online, and cant even find a service manual to purchase online.

can someone tell me what fluids go in the drive system; rear/transmission, front diff and/or front hubs. i have a '10 sportsman 500ho, and am fully capable and have done two complete services without issue, but the '00 has different hubs. if someone could just give me a quick run down of whats what and what goes where, that would be great

Try Partshark.com,they might be able to help you on a service manual OR Clymer should have one that might include several models together? On the 2000 Sportsman use 0-40 Mobil 1 OR Polaris PS4 Plus 2w50, Polaris AGL in the tranny, Demand Drive hub fluid in the hubs(3/16" drain plug, drain at 6'oclock,fill at 12'oclock,drain excess at 3 or 4'oclock,little extra fluid won't hurt) front gear case takes Demand Drive Gear fluid OR some people use 80/90 GL5,takes around 4-5 ounces, fill to bottom of fill threads, has a 7/16" small drain plug. Be sure to change the oil at 40-50 hrs as this was the last year on the poor heat treated cams! PS I wouldn't want the Bayou either, smart woman! OPT

thank you very much for your help, that just what i needed to know

BTW, i rode that bayou for 10 years before buying my 500ho, and loved every second of it

edit:

is "demand drive gear fluid" the same as "demand drive hub fluid"?

NO, Demand Drive Gear fluid(OR ANGLE DRIVE fluid) is not the same as Demand Drive hub fluid! It's actually a lot thicker gear oil and you can use 80/90 GL5 in place of this fluid! It's just differential fluid for the front differentials that have the awd in the hubs! Plus used in the rear differentials with straight axles such as the Magnums. Sometimes too many fluids to keep up with! Replacements can be used on some fluids,BUT stay with the Polaris Agl for the transmission, Demand Drive hub fluid, and either 0w40 Mobil 1 OR Polaris PS4PLUS 2w50 engine oil. YES it's confusing at times! OPT
