Default polaris explorer 250, 4x4 not working

I recently purchased a plow and installed it. Upon using it, I found the 4x4 is not working. I know it worked this summer, but i have not used the 4x4 since. I cleaned the switch and that did not help. My battery is completely dead and i haven't got a new one yet. Will that make a difference, since the switch is electric? any other Ideas. I am fairly handy, but I don't know much about electric systems. someone told me maybe one of the solenoids is not working. I don't have a schematic to see where they are.

welcome to the forum. not 100% sure, but i do beleave you will need a good battery and a working charging system to have the awd work as you mentioned it is electric(coils in the hubs)to activate the awd. hopefully you are running at least a bad battery in the bike and not one at all as this is very bad on the electroincs w/ having no bttery there is no place for the xharging system to send the power. did you check to see if you were getting power to the switch when you cleaned it? should start there and maybe also change the hub fluid as it does make a differnce in some cases.

let us know. maybe even make sure the light works inthe awd switch as the older models needed a working bulb to complete a circuit.
