I used to have 12.5 hp 44" cut that looked exactly like the one in the link. It did a fair job on the 3 acres I have but not nearly as nice as my old wheel horse. I'd stick with a tractor or even a Zturn if possible.

I had thought about it but for lawn mowing I would think the expense of the pull-behind plus the wear and tear on your ATV would make it a losing proposition. If you're brush-hogging a large area and basically using the ATV in place of a tractor then it may be a different story. But that's just my thoughts.

Hello Neighbor: I live just north of you in forest lake.

I would think the trial cutter would be more of a brush cutter rather then a fine cut lawn mower. Like someone said, your rear tires are going to tear up your grass.

I searched C.L. and here is a nice used trail cutter. Swisher Trail Mower

Here are a couple of riding lawn mowers for under your $850 range.
!! Craftsman Lawn Tractor 25hp !!

Scotts / John Deere 46" Hydro Lawn Tractor

John Deere 185 Hydro

1 yr old RIDING LAWN MOWER

Lawn Mower Tractor

Good luck with the search

Yeah, I've been watching the CL ads. I'll probably end up going that route and get something cheap to get by for a while. In a couple years hopefully I can get a ZTR or a nice John Deere tractor.

I've got the Scotts mower like the one you're looking at! It's held up for almost 14 years(98 model but made by Murray) Have replaced jack shafts, plenty of mower belts, but tranny and engine still runs good. Fixing to put a bullet in it so I can get a new zero turn mower! OPT

Default Tractor Mower

I was thinking of doing the tractor style mower for a couple years and then replace with a ztr mower...instead we have a son running around! Now I just need to hold on a few years and I can sit in the driveway and drink a beer while my son does the mowing on the tractor!! We have 2.5 acres and the mower takes some time, but it also makes for a little time to myself away from everything/everyone else! Seems like the pull-behind would be hard on your quad just idling around pulling that mower for 2 acres a couple times a week!

Hey, you can cut down the amount of grass to cut by putting in a track... we did!

i own a 60" swisher pull behind and i have nothing but good things to say. bought it after one season of use for $1000, have never had to change a belt, has electric start, 14.5 hp briggs I/C and tows behind my rancher real nice. good luck with your search, but my vote goes to swisher...plus, they are made in missouri!

Well, I got my mower problem solved today, thanks to dumb people selling stuff on CL. I found this riding mower today, it's a Craftsman with 42" deck, 17 HP Kohler engine, and hydrostatic drive. The guy was selling it for $150 because he thought something was wrong with the transmission. Turned out the only thing wrong with it was that he had the lever on the back of the tractor pulled out that disengages the hydrostatic drive. (For when you need to roll it around by hand) I brought it home, pushed the lever back in, and it works perfectly. There isn't anything wrong with it at all, it even came with a brand new set of blades still sealed in the box.
