have a 2001 250.turn key on.hit start.fires up every time fine.problem is no other electrical works (headlight,taillight,gear indicator light)everything lights up eventually be it 1 min or 5 min.idling or driving.sometimes headlight switch is already on before starting.while cranking all lights are on and remain on after start,but if i stop cranking before start up lights go off .always cranks and starts quickly.

 

Sounds like you have an intermittent short either in the left control switch, or wiring under the headlight panel,etc. Plus you could check the main circuit breaker(in the black sealed pouch) by the battery for any corrosion,bad connection,plus the battery connections. And is the battery itself in good condition and charging?. Or even the transmission switch wiring,etc. Just a few things to start out with. OPT
