Go Pro Video Camera test run
#1
I finally bought me a Go Pro to use on the boat and quad, been on my list for a while now, this thing is awesome, great picture, shock proof, water proof to 197 ft, indestructible, if the case gets covered in mud just hit it with a garden hose and dry it off
Don't mind my 3 year old boy, he never shuts up on the quad

not a close pic but you can kind of see it on the pod, I put one of the stick on mounts right on the pod and it seems to be a good view from there, this is the first time I got this thing dirty, it's usually spotless, but after all it is a ATV right, still bugs me to get it dirty

It came with all kinds of mounts, the one's pictured here and a suction cup, I also bought one that will clamp to the windsheild of the boat

What is amazing about them, is that compared to the first video camera I bought 20+ years ago, it's 1/20 the size. The video quality is 10X as good. It's far more versatile, (with the exception of the fact it doesn't zoom) it has longer battery life and takes great still photos. For very inexpensive prices you can get roll cage mounts, handle bar and helmet mounts, suction cup mounts, chest and wrist mounts and if you buy a second one and a $99 3-D kit, it makes great 3-D videos. For motorsports, it's one of the best low price investments you can add to your ride. Then you can take it to the beach and film underwater, they are absolutely amazing little cameras for under $300.

I also just purchased the GoPro Hero 2. Pretty impressed. The field of view is like 171 degrees on these things. They can see almost everything you see when you hold it! From what I read it is the go to camera. I picked it up after I learned they used them everywhere during the recent winter x games.
I've been working on shaky cam issues. A hint is to turn the camera down to 720p/60fps. It improved greatly over the 1080p/30fps. Also, the little rubber thing that looks like a nose clamp actually fits inside the slide ears for a tighter fit. It will prevent the weird clicking you here when riding.
I'm working on a Mac so, I've been working with iMovie and final cut pro. iMovie seems to actually has better image stabilization. Just a hint if you do any video editing after filming.

Yes, Final Cut is only available for mac. There are alternatives in the PC world. Adobe After effect being the most common i believe. iMovie (mac) and Windows movie maker are great for light editing and do well for most users. Final Cut, and After Effects are very full featured and take some time to learn.

Here's a photo of the rubber thing. It's orange there but, mine was white. If by chance you lost it as I almost did, there are other ways to achieve the same thing. Some tape under the slide will make it hard to clip the camera in but, eliminated the pop for me until i found the rubber piece.
