Default ADC question for OPT

ADC started growling so I changed the fluid. Clear with no bubbles so I ran a resevoir full through per side. Still a bit of noise.

Question is, how much fluid does the system hold to get a total change?

Thx in advance.

Gear case shows to be 9.3 ounces (fluid level with fill plug threads) Doesn't show capacity on the adc,but you remove the bleeder valve cap on the side of the gear case and attach a hose(to keep from making a mess) open the bleeder valve and pour in fresh fluid in the reservoir as the old fluid bleeds. Make sure the reservoir bowl doesn't get too low or empty (or you can have trapped air problems) Keep bleeding until the fluid is clean coming out of the hose, then tighten the bleeder valve, fill reservoir to full line. Forgot! I believe there are TWO bleeder valves and you alternate to each side side to bleed(as you close one side while still keeping the reservoir level above the minimum line) until the fluid drains out is clean and no air bubbles, then top off the reservoir to the max line. It's been a while! OPT

Howdy Mongrol......don't know the answer, but curious about "per side"......does the 550 have two separate resevoirs for ADC fluid?......NoJoke

There should be two bleeder valves. One on each side. My '07 X2, my wifes '09 500 and my '11 all have two.

Ya, OPT is correct. 1 resevoir, 2 bleeds.
I've done it a couple of times before, but this time it seems to require a lot more fluid to go through. I;ll do it again.

Thx guys.

Could be why some have had problems with the adc. The fluid has to be changed pretty often and if any air is left in it or the flushing old fluid isn't through enough, could cause problems. OPT

If you still have chatter after you flush and bleed the ADC reservoir change the oil in the gear case. Since I started changing mine every 50hrs I haven't had problems....
