EBS on Trailblazer???
#11
Finally I got it going right. It took some trial and error with the shims behind the secondary driven clutch. It had three shims to start with and at first I tried none, but it creeped. I ended up with two and now it goes into gear smoothly. While I had the clutch off, I changed the springs and weights and now she flies. If I try hard enough I can make it wheelie.
One other note, I ended up still using the EBS belt instead of the stock Trailblazer belt. All along I thought it was the belt but OPT was right about the shims. I even tried to just change belts just to see and it still did the same thing grinding into gear. (maybe a little less but not much.) I still don't know if the EBS will slow it down yet but that's the next step. For now, at least it's going. I didn't do it for the EBS anyway, it was just an extra a friend had laying around.

I thought I would give an update on the EBS on my trailblazer. It doesn't seem to work in my opinion. I rode a sportsman this weekend that has EBS and the trailblazer doesn't act anything like that. Going down hill It seems to make the engine speed up rather than slow the machine down. It makes the engine ping and pop when coasting instead of slowing down. I think I'm going to try to find a different clutch for it without the EBS.

The two-stroke won't compression brake like the four stroke anyway.
But I read the thread quickly I got that you still have the stock secondary.
The engine braking actually comes from the secondary. The ebs primary just allows a tighter belt, so the engine braking doesn't cut out when the engine rpm falls below clutch engagement. Depending on your clutch set up, it will only need a bit of throttle every now again to keep it braking.
In order to run a ebs secondary with a reg primary, you need to loosen the belt tension by shimming the sheaves of the sec further apart so it will shift gears well running. engine braking in high gear isn't very effective, in low it works good. I like the amount of engine braking it gives not so annoying like my 05 800 sp. that thing either tries to swap the back with the front on a hill or throws me over the bars on the flat I hate it.
My xplorer has a team from an 800 sportsman, great back shift, and engine braking.
