Default Rear axle problems:

Just wondering if anyone can help me on how to get a rear axle out of a 2004,400,Polaris Sportsman?I am just about to the end of my string, trying to get it removed.I've even pounded on it with a 14 lb hammer and a piece of pipe.

Welcome to the forum! Sometimes it takes heat, penetrating oil (PB Blaster is the best I've used) plus helping hands to hold the atv while someone does rapid jerks on the drive shaft to try to pop it out. Just takes some time on some atvs. I've even used slide hammers on some tough ones. The shaft splines on the axle can get dirt and grit on em making them tough to remove. OPT

welcome to the polaris forum. the little spring clip in side that holds the shadt in place sometimes gets all rusty and muddy and can be a bear to get out. as mentioned soak the helll out of it with penetrating oil and it should snap out, maybe with a little prying as well.
