Ok...will a clutch from a 2003 700 sportsman work on a 1998 400 explorer???? They look the same..,.

 

700 has an ebs drive clutch versus the non ebs in the Explorer 400. Some have tried this,but from what I've read they didn't have too much luck as the belts used are different for one thing and had problems with the rear clutch. It would just be a mixed system.

Will it work at all ??? The one on 400 is pitted and cracked big time!!!! Will one off 700 work for lil while???

 

If I am running mixed gas should I block injection screw on carburetor boot????

 

Reason I ask is cuz cable to pump is broke..

 

Yes on blocking off the oil line at the intake manifold if you premix. Also since it looks like it's going to be down a while because of the damaged piston,look for a used non ebs clutch on Ebay,Craigslist instead of try to use one from a 700.

 

Piston b here Thursday...could I just switch spring and cover over from one clutch to other inside of one on 400 is pitted and cracked pretty bad....??

 

The inside of one on 700 is nice and smooth..

 

Two different style clutches and the parts don't interchange.
