Default new to forum, need help

Hello all,
new to the forum, I joined because I bought my first atv this year, an 07 sportsman 500 efi browning edition, the problem, there is a delayed reaction when i turn the key on, kill switch is on as well, so,... delayed cluster lighting up and the ominous clicking sound underneath, machine has always started, however the delay is getting longer and sometimes I have to turn the key off again to get it started, thru tireless hrs of research it sounds like the pdm or ecm, my question,
is there a new part# for the pdm? someone mentioned an upgrade, my part# is 4011517, can i order this or should i look for an updated #
any help would be appreciated

Welcome to the Forum! Part # still shows to be the same. Please don't double post in the expert and normal thread area, causes some confusion. Cycle Parts Warehouse still shows same part # 4011517 for about $360. They usually show any updated items if available. OPT

Thanks OPT, appreciate it, sorry for the double post, have never posted on a forum until now, will not let it happen again. I think I will run the machine a little longer to see what happens, (unless it will do more harm) I just dont want a dead machine in plow season, outside of this issue, the polaris is everything I need it to be,
Thanks again

Just make sure the battery is receiving 14 volts while running. This is one of the functions of the pdm along with operating the cooling fan. OPT

Have the battery load tested first!! It could be just a dead cell and not holding the charge back to it from the pdm! Especially since you said it's getting 14.5 volts back to the battery while running. OPT

Thanks for the guidance

Tap the winch while you push the switch and see if it works. Check that all connections on the on the winch commutator connections tucked up under the right front fender are tight and also at the winch itself. If all connections are good, possibly the commutator needs replacing or the winch motor itself may need to be cleaned up and serviced. Plus you can use a meter or test light to see if the winch is getting power when you push the switch. OPT
