You can put some die-electric grease in the plug cap before you snap / put it back on . In fact anytime you have a electrical connection apart adding some die-electric grease is a good idea . Just use your hands to get the cap off try pulling it up from the bottom of the boot if possible you can twist it back and forth as you pull it up and off .

Thank you. So putting grease in the connection is ok? Some have said put it around the connection, so it seals water out.

Plug tool should be in a kit like this.10 Polaris Sportsman 500 HO Tool Kit K12 | eBay
If you do quite a bit of plug changes this is the best I've found to get at hard to reach boots with out damage. Have had this tool for years and just pop the plug cap up with the palm of your hand. Mac Tools Spark Plug Boot Puller SP500M "New" | eBay
