Default 2001 magnum for plowing?

I'm looking at a 2001 Polaris magnum 325. Is this enough engine to plow? It comes with a 54 inch v plow. I should add, im not looking to plow as a side-job. Just want something for my folks driveway, as well as mine. I havea flat driveway, my parents are on a bit of a hill.

Thanks

Should be fine. Use low range.

If the ATV has a low range it will turn the tires or snap the axels tying but never run out of wheel tuning power. Its just up to tractions not motor power or size.

A 850 ATV could not budge me backwards in a tug of war if I,m in low range. All that would happen is both ATVs would dig themselves 4 deep tire ruts.

Thats why Low range is a beautiful option.

I used to have one of those machines. It wasn't fast by any means but in low range it was nearly unstoppable. Another nice thing about those was the fact that they were air cooled with an aux oil cooler, so no worry's about a overheating issues for the most part. Mine would rarely kick the fan on and I had to be really working it hard on a hot day to get that.

I used to plow with the 250 Trail Boss, no problem. I found on these lighter machines that it works much better to use high gear for plowing, not low. Keep your speed up and use your momentum to move the snow. Low range just spins the tires once you get some snow in front of the blade because you don't have enough traction.

That won't be an issue with the magnum. The older magnums were based off the sportsman platform and came with a 325, 425 or I even believe the 500. With the exception of it having a straight rear axle vs. independent suspension, they were pretty much the same machine.
