Default Sportsman 800 Fuel Mileage

My 2008 Sportsman has a 4.13 gallon fuel tank and I can go only about 50 miles on a full tank. What kind of mileage are you fellars getting? Im just wondering if this is normal and what I can do for better fuel mileage. I very rarely need 4X4.

All depends on your speed and riding condition. Open fast 50 mph gravel road riding uses much more gas then 20 mph trail riding.

My friends 800 gets 80 miles on a tank when trail riding, not sure about fast road riding because were not into that much,we have trucks for that.

About 45-55 miles is about all I get out of our 07 Sportsman 800 trail/woods riding .... Sometimes more when I ride a lot of logging/mining road along with trail.. IMO tank is way too small & no reserve either, I have a fuel pack that holds 5 gallons that I take with me....

Yeah, most of my riding is wooded trail riding also. Very rarely does my 2008 model 800 get over 20 mph. My other two friends have 2006 and 2007 models and they can get almost 60 miles to a tank. I was just curious if this was common.

I average an indicated 13 mpg on a tank. That comes out to 52 miles per tank usually needs 3.8 - 4 gallons to re-fill, when its this low the tank looks dry when you look into it .......
Also that is indicated miles traveled, I have larger tires on aftermarket wheels & every 9 miles indicated on my odometer is actually 10 to 10.5 miles traveled when comapred to odometer readings on others ATV`s who are riding with me , on Kawasaki & Hondas....
Actual average mileage may be closer to 14 .....
My 04 Kawasaki 700 Carbureted ATV gets 15-16 mpg , it is a lighter machine & has a larger tank & I can go 70-75 average miles on a tank in it .......

I can get about 90 miles out of my tank on forest trails. I carry a Rotopax with me most of the time.

Trail riding I usually get between 70-80 miles out of a tank, but my touring model has a bigger tank I think (6 gal). Playing in the mud is a LOT less, lol.

Default 4.13 gallon?

My 2007 800 X2 has a 6 gallon tank. How is one suppose to get anywhere with a 800 on 4 gallons of gas.
I was getting around 90 miles on a tank on trails. I haven't checked it lately. I don't seem to do long hauls any more.
