Default Tire weight question.

Below are my stock 489 weights and tires that I want to run. I would like to run 26" just wondering if the extra weight will affect me much. Tire weights came from manufacturers sites.

Carlisle AT489
25x8x12 14.1 lbs
25x10x12 18.7 lbs

Reptile Radials
25x8x12 22 lbs
25x10x12 27 lbs

26x9x12 26 lbs
26x11x12 30 lb

My friend notice a performance lost moving up to 26" on his 660 Grizzly.

With a 450 your would notice it even more. The option I like is to split the differance, stay with stock 25" sized tire but buy a tire with a more aggressive thread for improved traction.

I run the 26" Reptiles on my '04 Honda Rancher AT for the past 2 years with no problems.

Do you ride at high speeds? If you do, you will notice some power robbing. Nothing major, but noticable. You could try it and do clutch work if your power isn't up to par.

Thanks Guys. Max road speed here is 30mph. I will try the 26", and if I lose a bit, Dalton has a clutch kit that will work nicely.

For general trail riding at you will be fine, even if you get into the nasty stuff your Low Range does not care how heavy the tires are.

Low Range will pop a axle or CV joint before it runs out of wheel turning power.
