brake pads wearing FAST

Default brake pads wearing FAST

have a 2009 550XP with only 650 miles and on my 3rd set of pads. Ride in average amount of mud (Around farm) have tried cleaning the rotors and checked the rotors but still wearing the brakes.

Almost sounds like the calipers aren't releasing the pads. Have you looked at or rebuilt them?

does sound like something is hanging them up. try jacking the bike up on the brake that is wearing out and try rotating the wheel and see how much drag there is. there should be a little,but still able to spin the wheel freely when you give it a good spin.

Just jack up the wheels,best to remove the tires. Loosen the the 3/16" allen caliper set screw out about a turn or so,while turning the hub,turn the screw back in slowly until you feel resistance from the pads on the rotor,them back out 1/8 turn. This should align the caliper to the rotor and help on pad wear. OPT
