best battery?
finally got tired of replacing my walmart battery in my polaris every few years. i am going to purchase a good one this time and i need recommendations. i am thinking a sealed, maintenance free battery? whats your guys' opinion?
i dont ride a whole lot, its a 99 Sportsman 500 with lots of extras (hand warmers, lights, reverse lights, winch, stereo) i need something that will keep it from losing juice when i am winching. hoping for around a $100 range. Thanks in advance!

You can get different price groups,(cheaper Agm batteries) but here's one of the best rated. Odyssey ATV Batteries

I bought a battery from my polaris dealer and I do not buy much from them but I was in a hurry.
They gave me a Yuasa battery and its on its 5th season, the ATV sits 4 months of the year in winter and I never take it out and use a battery tender. It only cost $70 Canadian so its cheaper in the States.

Try the X2 from batteries plus. It's a sealed agm battery with deep cycle capability. Got one for my RZR and been impressed. Cheaper than the odyssey/optima with same/better specs. Also recommend getting a cheap battery tender from Harbor Freight (under $10) and hook it up when the machine isn't in use. Definitely helps the battery last longer- my 05 Sportsman 800 had the original battery when I sold it after 4+ years and it was still going strong.

ATV Battery Types and Maintenance
I don't know that the brand of battery matters so much as the maintenance, but I would definitely recommend an AGM battery or at least using a battery tender if you decide to go with another lead acid. We actually just wrote a post about about the lead acid batteries versus AGM batteries and how we maintain them. I'd love it if you'd check out our post here. There is a pretty cool trick for bringing an AGM battery back to life when it won't take a charge from the charger too. Good luck and I hope you find a solution that works for you!
