Default 2001 425 xpedition electrical issue

I have a 2001 xpedition that is not getting spark. I put in a new stator and it ran for a few minutes. On a test run I heard a little click and it stopped running and there is no longer any spark.

I found the part that broke DIRT CHEAP ATV PARTS' OEM Parts Finder ( Part number 13 ) and it says its a sensor. The issue is that it is a replacement part and there is barely enough room between the flywheel and the cover. I suspect replacing it will fix my problem but I also suspect that it will happen again. Since it says its just a sensor. Can I bypass it altogether?
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Is this the part you're looking for? Ricky Stator
If this is what you need, you can't by pass it! It sends the "pulse" to the cdi for spark.

It sure looks like that but it says its a pick up coil and the other place says its a sensor.
I am guessing Rick Stators site is right. I am placing an order as soon as I hit send..
Thanks again.. OPT, Thank you so much!

Pick up coil, pulser coil,or pulse coil is what it's commonly referred to by different sites.
Exciter coils are the small coils that serve the same purpose, but are inclosed with in the flywheel. You usually find these on the older models. OPT
