Well I figured I would post a update. I broke my hand last week so I decided to take it to a shop. Got a call yesterday saying I need complete top and bottom rebuild. 900 bucks . Bearings are shot and that's what I'm seeing on top of piston. Only have 1200 in bike so I guess 900 won't be that bad. Question is should I spend that or try and find another motor. Also if anyone out there has one please let me know. Thanks

That's what I figured on the piston damage. I had this same sort of thing almost every week! I left it up to the customers as to what they wanted to do. $900 pretty well falls in line with what most shops charge on a complete rebuild(at least down here) If you're handy with tools you could save some $ by just having the bottom end rebuilt and top end bored out and you reassemble. If they completely rebuild the engine right from top to bottom and the rest of the atv is in good condition,it would be in my opinion worth doing. You'll have $2100 total in it and should last for years with proper maintenance. If you took the same $2100 and bought another used machine, you could have just as many or more problems on another used one. Just get some sort of warranty on the engine rebuild. Just think about it and don't make a snap decision. Same thing on another used engine. You could just be opening another can of worms.Don't know where you're located, but this is about the going price on a decent one down here. Falls in line with what you will have in yours. http://dallas.craigslist.org/dal/mcy/3730909393.html
