Look on the passenger side of the rear gear case and you will see a drain plug. When drained, the fill plug is located on the drivers side. Fill to bottom of threads. Use Polaris AGL only. Front gear case has a small 7/16" drain plug on the bottom. Fill plug is on drivers side at the bottom front of the gear case. Best if you have a fill tube or small funnel. Fill to bottom of fill threads, approx 5 ounces or so if I remember correctly.Use Demand Drive fluid only. #24 on each side. http://www.cyclepartswarehouse.com/f...2005&fveh=5659
#22 and #24 on the front gear case.http://www.cyclepartswarehouse.com/f...2005&fveh=5659

There's no rear differential so to speak like the 700 ,800 machines have that are separate units. The 500 gear case is one complete unit.

You should see the fluid come up to level with the fill threads, then stop and put the plug back in. As it says in the manual "fill to bottom of fill plug threads". Plus correction on the front gear case capacity on your model. Approximately 9 ounces versus 5 ounces on the older models, but still use the fill threads as the level indicator.
