Default Polaris 90 2007 broken welds!!! ARGH!!!

Before you read on, would removing the backend assembly (axel) cause the atv light neutral light to be dim, in addition the brake switch not to work? Ground issue? Was hoping to do some engine work while waiting on parts.

Feeling good, quad is running, not perfect put running. I go and look at the back end and the swing arm where the mono-shock attaches has a broken weld! ARGH!!! One thing after another. I can weld, but out of argon gas. I called a local place on Friday and they said to only bring in the swing arm Saturday morning. So I proceeded to take apart the whole rear end. Every bolt and screw was a pain to remove. Something is just not right. The atv was also missing it's chain guard that I had already ordered. I only had two bolts to go, the bolts go through the drum brake and into the axel housing, they are beefy bolts. Just so happens these bolts would not come out, and one broke. This atv had to of been in a wreck, all the welds were rusty on the swing arm. I took the rear end assembly to my local welder and he could not remove the broken bolt and said everything was rewelded. That sums up everything. This thing was rolled, or something. I found a rear end on EBay assembly for $275 with a 30 day guarantee. The assembly would have cost me over $600 new. Also ordered a new carburetor, ignition coil, and front and rear brake shoes. My daughter has seen me paint mufflers\exhausts before and wanted her’s blue! So while I waiting on parts I prepped and painted it. She also wants other parts painted, we will see. Should have all the parts in before the weekend. If I head north of $1500 for the atv plus parts, it is a bad deal. Right now I am hovering at $1475. I know the quad is dirty, but it is cleaner than when I bought it. Will be cleaning it as I am fixing it.

Pretty blue exhaust I's say on the electrical, check the grounds as you mentioned along with the battery. Dimming lights could be caused by either one.

Greetings OPT!
I figured it might be some kind of ground issue when I removed the rear assembly. The parts came in, and we will see if the electrical comes back to life once it is reassembled. My youngest is very creative, and wanted something different on her quad. It's a good thing I didn't go with a light primer, or the blue would have been really bright! I will be painting some of the axle components as well. It needs to be tasteful for resale, but something she can call her own. I will be doing some hydrographics on the black side plastics, maybe blue skulls... I will be post pictures of my progress.

Well it was the battery! I noticed that the charger would kick off, saying it was charged in a matter of minutes. Then and there I knew I had to replace the battery. It was just bad timing. After it was replaced the electrical checked out fine. The ATV is know almost complete minus a brand new DOA ignition coil!!! Need to return the new one for a replacement. Will update the forum with new pictures.
