I Have A 04 polaris predator 500... The atv Will Not Crank Unless i hook jumper cables up to the battery. If I Do Not Hook Jumper Cables To The Battery, It Will act like it wants to crank but wont. The man i got the atv from said it had a bad battery but the headlights and fan will still come on so i was woundering if it had something to do with starter or solenoid, or mabey it is just the battery. What Do You guys Think?

 

Battery i most likely toast, however you may be able to rescue it by charging it for several hours at a high amp rate. This has worked for me a few times, but not allways.

 

Charge the battery as suggested,plus even have it load tested if need be. If the battery checks out good,but still has to take a jumper battery to get it cranked,it could be the one way starter clutch starting to wear and drag.
