1995 Magnum 425 Radiator Fan Switch Replacement
#1
The thermal switch that screws into the top of the radiator on my Magnum 425 has just failed. The Polaris part number for the switch is 4110178 and it is no longer available. I can't even find one on Ebay. I realize that I can bypass this switch and run the fan with a manual toggle switch but I'd really like to keep using a thermal switch in the radiator if possible. Does anyone have any ideas or experience in getting another thermal switch to fit the hole in the magnum 425 radiator? My service manual states that the switch should close at 221 degrees and the switch should open at 170-180 degrees. I don't know the thread size yet but will determine that today. Any thoughts on how to get another thermal switch to work would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

That's what I did with my Part number 4010161 .
I just found out the tread size. (M16x1.5) tuned out temp sensor from 84-88 Nissan Maxama or 86-89 Nissan Stanza is the same.
The only difference is the plug in for the wire, just splice your old plug in connection to the new sensor.
The temp sensors cut in and cut off temp ranges of cars are so close you will hurt anything.
I had a patient auto parts guy comparing my old sensor screw in size with what he had.

Thanks guys. I found out this morning that the thread on the outside of my fan switch is
1/2" pipe thread. I'm thinking of finding or making a brass bushing with 1/2" pipe thread on the outside and M16x1.5 thread on the inside. Then I can use one of the automobile fan switches that are made for a M16X1.5 hole inside the bushing. Then screw the bushing (with the switch inside it) into the existing hole in the radiator. Any more ideas or advice???

You can find these at Auto Zone,Napa, etc that will replace the oem sensor. The oem sensor kicks the fan on at 190 degrees, off at 175 and the hot light triggers at 221 degrees. Duralast/Cooling Fan Switch - Radiator (SW575) | AutoZone.com
