I am looking for an owners manual for a 1995 Polaris Big Boss 400 6 x 6. Where can I find one?
Also, I have been told that the oil pump mechanism will eventually fail. This is a 2-cycle engine. It has been recommended to disconnect the mechanism and put the correct mixture directly into the gas tank. What should that mixture be? 50 to 1, or 32 to 1, or 40 to 1? And has anyone one done this?
Thanks ya'all.

On the 400 engine I agree that the oil pumps can be a problem, not because of the design, but where they are located. Right at the front of the engine and can corrode because of water entry. You can pull the the three plate screws and inspect the pump body and pump wheel to see if it's operating properly. If you do want to eliminate it,just pull the oil line leading to the intake manifold and use a short 6mm bolt and washer to block it off.You can drain the oil tank, but leave the split throttle cable as it turns the pump wheel and also the carb slide. Some have installed single throttle cables, but no need if the throttle is working ok now.Premix no richer than 40-1.Plus here's a link to a 400 manual.May or may not include the Big Boss, but shows about the engine and other maintenance items.Index of /ORV Manuals/Polaris/1985-1995 - All Models Or you can get a Clymer manual on Ebay.http://www.ebay.com/itm/85-95-Polaris-Trail-Boss-Big-Boss-Cyclone-Xplorer-250-400-500-Repair-Manual-NEW-/370802715560?pt=Motors_Manuals_Literature&hash=item5655906ba8&vxp=mtr
