Open Load on Capacitor Charge Coil

Open Load on Capacitor Charge Coil
Hi everyone,
I've got an 03 SP 700 that just lost all life one day after switching it off, no warnings whatsoever. There is no spark on either plug so I followed the diagnostics in the service manual. All of the resistances are within the tolerance except for one; the brown to yellow on capacitor charge coil. It should read 5.4 to 7.3 Ohms but mine is showing an open load. Is this the dreaded failure of the ducati ignition everyone talks about? Or do I just have a short/bad ground hiding somewhere?
When testing the ignition coil, what does the part about "with caps" and "without caps" mean?
Any input is greatly appreciated.

Just order the Kokusan ignition and don't bother testing the Ducati system as it's junk! Part #2202602. Check around as to pricing from Cycle Parts Warehouse,Cheap Cycle Parts,Bike Bandit, etc.Around $450 or so.Here's what's involved.http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j...,d.b2I&cad=rja
