Default Which ATV

Hey everyone, I'm trying to decide between a Polaris Sportsman 800 4x4 or a Honda Rincon 680 4x4!!! Give me some pros and cons and the two four wheelers, and btw the type of stuff that i ride in is hard packed trails, thick sticky mud, and bumpy trails (trees, roots, etc).... If i could get some input on the two that would be great.

The 800 has true 4x4 to get you through the mud, a better ride, and a lot more power. Honda's 680 has about the same HP as anyone else's 500.

Sportsman has tons more torque and horsepower, adjustable shocks on the rear, better towing and toting numbers, true 4wd, and more ground clearance.

Honda is more reliable to a small degree, and has a limited slip front end. I've been in a few places where that little bit of extra mud might have stopped me with a limited slip.

Welcome to the forum Joshua Sands..... Just looking at the specs of both ATV's, the Sportsman runs away from the Honda, big time. To me it would be a no brainer for the Sportsman.....a lot more bang for he buck.
The biggest plus is that after you buy your Sportsman, you get to hang around here and learn all about the mods and neat things you can do to your ATV.......

wish all questions were this simple!
having owned a couple of both machines-
you'll just eventually upgrade to the sportsman... so just buy the polaris- it's leagues above the rincon.

Thanks everyone for the answers think I'm going with the 850 H.O Sportsman. After reading the reviews an the specs of both ATV's I see that the sportsman smokes the rincon!!!!!!!

I thought you were looking for the older model 800. That alone is better than the Rincon in almost every category. The 850 is even better and is one of the top machines out there right now. In the top 3 fastest stock utility machines with the Can-Am 800s and 1000s.

hell yeah! comparing the popo xp 850 to a rincon 680 is like comparing a 2014 ford f250 King Ranch to a 1983 chevy S-10!

btw- in case you were reading up on the wrong atv... there's a big difference between the polaris sportsman 800, and the polaris xp 850 sportsman

What kills the Rincon in all shootout is it has no Diff lock, Low range and only 39hp from a 680cc is pathetic.
The XP550 makes 39hp.
My 350 has a 1,100lbs tow rating yet the 680 is rated at 850lbs do to the Rincons odd ball 3 speed tranny.
Honda should be embarrassed to call that ATV it,s flagship utility 4x4(3x4).

If I bought a Honda it would be the New 2014 500 Foreman,at least it has a low 1st gear and is the only 4x4 ATV they have with diff lock.
