Polaris 90, Trail Tech Vapor installed
#1
This machine is really coming along. Just finished installing a Trail Tech Vapor speedometer on my daughters Polaris 90. I really think most youth quads should have a working speedometer. It is really cheesy having a sicker with pretend speedometer on it. It reminds me of one of those electric Power Wheels. These are $2000+ machines!! They should know how fast they are going. Took some minor fab work on the rear end to mount the magnet and sensor. It is wired to the ignition, and turns on when the key is turned. It has a RPM sensor, and engine temp also. This kit came with in-line coolant sensor. I need to purchase one that attaches to the spark plug. For now the Vapor only reads the ambient temp. The speedometer and RPM’s work great!

Good looking speedo install, but all depends on the maturity level of the kids riding these atvs.Seems like I had my share of damaged atvs brought into the shop from "trees" jumping out in front of a lot of kids and several children hurt from lack of attention and distractions (insert parents responsibility here also) Again it just depends on their maturity level of the child and keeping their eyes focused on the path in front of them instead of how fast they're going.. A distraction like this may be why they never put working speedos on to begin with? Just my

If this is like the trail tech I had, I think it will show the top speed too. Be kinda handy if you tell them to take it easy.
Good looking job on the install.

Your right OPT! I even catch myself looking down at the speedometer on flat terrain. Both my girls are pretty seasoned riders, been riding for over 4 years (9 and 14). I installed one on this Polaris 90, and one on my other daughter’s 2003 Recon 250. I am using this more of a training tool. I want them to get used to speed as it relates to MPH. For the most part we do trail riding, where you are focused on the person in front of you and the obstacles ahead. The more mud and water the better for our family. For us as a family, there is no reason anyone should be going above 20mph.
