scrambler 500 ignition

Default scrambler 500 ignition
I just bought a 2001 scrammy 500 2x4. The key turns on and off but doesnt turn again to start it. Its a 4 pin and looks to be correct. Dont these bikes start using the key? Could it have the wrong ignition?

Turn the key on,reach over to the left control switch,have the red switch in the middle position and push up.Hope you heard it run before you bought it..

The gas valve is broke as is the pull start rope. We sprayed either in the intake and it fired right up.

Thanx a lot. It was $33.38 with shipping but found it on ebay for $23.60 shipped!
