Default Engine Beaking System part number??

After my Labour Day weekend ride up North, and trading quads with my friend, I would like to add the EBS to my 400HO.

My dealer says it is no linger available.

Any ideas, OPT or others?

Is the only difference between EBS and not a one way bearing in the primary?
A poormans version of EBS is to put the ATV in low range going down a steep hill. for some reason it holds the ATV back from free wheeling. Works on my dads 97 SP500 without EBS.

I thought EBS was just a matter of putting on a Primary clutch with the one way bearing feature.

If i butter the throttle going down a hill, even in high, it kinda does similar. Do the non ebs clutches have a one way bearing?

No one way on the non ebs clutch. They originally came out with the kits for the 400 2 stroke before the 500 ebs hit the market.I put a couple of these on,but sure cant remember any kit number. The only way to slow these free wheeling 2 strokes down on steep hills was to give it throttle to load the clutches up which was opposite of what your brain thought!I had to practice this several times. Imo I never really cared for ebs as a 4 stroke has a natural braking effect from the engine, but I also never went down some of the crap you guys go down. Just down bridge embankments on tests and always in low range.

Thanks OPT. I am amazed at the amount of compression braking my 45cc has. I do exactly what you described, blurp the throttle, load the clutch up, and it acts sorta like EBS.

Got a price on the EBS kit $654!! Needless to say, I am not getting it.
