Hello everyone! I rode with a new scrambler 500 on the weekend, and it ripped. Now i have to get one. My question is are they more fun that a sportsman. I find my sportsman slow and extremley heavy, and i don't work the sportsman at all, just trail ride. Can the Scrambler compete in the mud and snow and ride quality. Approximatly how fast do they go. Any problems to watch for?
thanx!

Victor,

I have a 2001 Scrambler 500 4x4. I have about 140 miles on it, and it was purchased the first week of October.

I have not been able to obtain the 60+ miles per hour others have claimed. I don't have the open space, nor the desire. It is very heavy, and is the first to run out of gas during the day.

I have not had any problems with it, and currently it has a polaris speedo and a polaris rear rack. I have mounted a tool box on the back rack, and only use the rack when I am trail riding(not the dunes or attica).

Waiting to be installed, I have polaris skid plates for the swing arm and frame, and prm for the a-arms. I also have the front shock/strut covers, and a uni air filter.

The scrambler is a different machine, and depending how you ride, may or may not like. I had previously had a 87 Honda 250X. My buddy also had a 87 250X, and now has a Raptor.

You should try different machines, and ultimately different manufacturers, to be sure your 6k toy is what you want.
