200 Trail Boss temp light
Hi all I have a 2002 Trail boss and we have an issue with the temp light coming on even when cold , so far I have put on another LR62 temp thermistor module and that didn`t solve the problem so I went to take it off I notice it sparking when touching the frame, I am assuming when putting it on all the wires should go blue to blue yellow to yellow and red to red . I checked for power and I have power on the orange wire that plugs into the module and none from the red is this how it should be ? any help would be appreciated thanks.

Just have the 2003 330 T/B manual, but similar and yes the wires should go color to color. The orange wire goes to the fan motor itself. Thermistor is supposed to close contacts when hot enough(260 degrees!) and provide the path through the module for the fan to kick on and the hot light also to come on when it passes 260 degrees. That's why fans seldom come on.You should be able to jump the thermistor connector at the oil cooler with the key on and the hot light and the fan should kick on. Should be a blue/white and red/white wire to the hot light itself. You could possibly have a short in the hot light wiring or the thermistor wiring if the hot light comes on when it's cold. Here's a cheap 5 buck pdf sevice manual for your 2002 model as there may be some differences in the 330 manual I have.2002 Polaris Trail Boss 325 Service Manual PDF Download

Just looked at the wiring schematic I have on the 2003 330 and it uses one of the first ecm modules that control both charging and fan operation so it will be different than your model. Shows to have a red/white (hot wire with key on) to the fan and orange/black(ground path from the module) for the fan. For this model the ecm completes the circuit for the fan from the thermistor sensor. Should be the same as the LR62 thermistor module does on your 325,but best to get the correct manual to make sure.Ecms changed up a lot of things. If you're module is sparking, more than likely a short in the wiring would be my best guess.

ok checked all the wiring all ok . did some more checking on the module . 2 yellow wires for temp sensor blue wire not sure what its for and red wire (split before module one to module other red to fan ) orange wire other wire from fan and assuming when temp gets high something in the module completes the circuit . with the orange wire unplugged I have no power on the metal bar that holds the module unto the frame when I plug the orange wire in It will light my light up ( this is with it not hooked to frame ) is this module toast as well it was a used module
