Default 06 Scrambler 4x4 nightmare.

Hello, I have an 06 Scrambler 500 4x4 and the left front wheel doesn't spin when it had a load on it in 4x4. And when its on a stand and its in 4x4, the wheel will spin, but the handlebars wiggle back and forth. I replaced the armature plate, still did the same thing. I am now assuming its the electro magnet. I have started looking for a new strut to buy, as I've heard its a lot easier to replace the whole strut then the magnet, but I was wanting to get more opinions on this, and see if there is anything else I should try before I find one and order it. Thank you.

If you have a manual this would help on replacing the coil if need be. First I'd make sure the gray wire to the coil has 12 volts and both connectors under the front panel are secure. Plus you need to make sure you torqued the hub nut to 12 foot pounds only. You might try this as it may be a grounding issue and this may help as some have done.

Okay thank you, I will get a manual. Which brand would you suggest? or does it matter? And do I check for the 12v with just a standard multimeter?

A simple meter or test light to the gray wire and then to a good frame ground would work. This can eliminate the power wire as a problem, but still a grounding issue could be the problem and jumping these wires as shown in he video might help.Plus here's a cheap 5 buck pdf manual that can help until you decide if you want a hard cover manual.2006 Polaris Scrambler 500 Service Manual PDF Download

Okay, Another question. I tried the test light thing today, I wasn't getting any power to the wires down at the hub with the key on and AWD switched on, so I tried up at the connection (under the hood) and I didnt get anything there either. Am I doing something wrong here? Also a little additional information if it helps, all 4 tires spin if you have it in the air, but the left front you can touch with your foot and it will stop spinning. Thank you

Should have voltage on the gray wires at both connectors leading to the hubs when awd is switched on and in gear. If both front tires spin while up off the ground and you can stop one from turning, then sounds more like you may have a mechanical problem in the hubs if you first: Have power to the gray wires and also after regrounding the two brown(ground) wires from the hub coil to the main ground as shown in the video.

Ok thank you I'll re try that in the morning (today I'm not sure I had it in gear.) And by Mechanical problem in the hubs, do you mean like a bad magnet? or a bad clutch? Thanks again.

This system is called electro mechanical as you have to have voltage to the strut coil, plus the mechanical parts in the hubs such as bearings, strut coil, armature plate, roll cage, etc have to be functioning properly. And yes you have to have it in gear, ignition on(engine doesn't have to be running) along with the awd switch on for the two gray wires to have 12 volts! If in doubt just order the cheap 5 buck manual and it will explain in detail!
