I just got my new outer housing from warn. When I removed the old one, there was some type of washer sitting on top of the gears. It appears to be a snap ring of some sort. It is bevelled and has teeth on the inside. I loke din my manual and it does not show one nor does there appear to be one on the new housing.

Can someone please tell me what I should do or what this ring is for??

Thanks

That spring waqsher its on the steel hex rod that runs through the middle of your drum. It is set on one side of the hex rod. Hope this helps?

Yes, it goes around the center rod, and I think there is a notch it fits into. The spiring is then place on the side of the washer toward the motor end of the winch.
