Starter filling with oil and leaking? WTF!?!?

Seems if it was a crank seal on the flywheel/stator end though that it would foul out the stator and wouldn't run at all.Didn't have much time on this engine as I retired before any major problems came up other than the crank case vent problems.Got me baffled too..
I was thinking possibly a crankcase vent line was plugged, thus causing high pressure and somehow blowing oil into the starter area...

Possible since the 2009 through 2011 models did have crank case vent problems and all parts were updated. Usually the air boxes had a lot of oil also. You might check that to. Almost all parts were updated and I remember we had some early attempts from Polaris to fix this. Most people went to 2012 parts. Here's the recall if you haven't had this done.Polaris ATV, Snowmobiles, RANGER, Victory

So I tried to start my 2009 850 XP around Christmas time and it was cold here in here in Hell (-40ish), the bike wouldn't roll over at all however the starter would engage, just not spin. So I pushed it into the garage and let it thaw out for a day, once it was warmed up it started right up, then I discovered there was oil leaking out of the starter. I plowed my driveway for a few minutes and noticed the oil was leaking faster and faster as I went on.
I took the starter off and took it to the local motor/starter shop, the guy said it was in great shape and couldn't find a problem with it, so I took it home and reinstalled it, and of course it is still leaking oil...
Anyone have any idea's?????

I know I’m a girl but I had this same problem today and I live in Florida where it don’t freeze. I believe it’s too much oil in atv. When too much oil is in there it enters crankcase and turns into foam. Which will find weakest spot (starter seal) and leak. You can check by removing starter and while starter is off and atv is off try pulling the pull cord I had oil shoot out where the starter goes. The oil appeared metallic to me. I drained oil and refilled correctly and I’m going to try cranking it in morning I’m not sure if it messed up my starter or not though. And I’m not sure what other damage this caused.
So I just thought I’d give you the info I discovered hope it helps
