Default Upper Radiator hose '02 Sportsman 700

I notice where the vertical frame support has cut into my hose. There is actually a "guard" over the hose to delay the inevitable. Is this really a $50-60 hose?

5413762 appears to be the P/N I need. I noticed it yesterday when I went to take it out for a ride, but thinking it was just a 1" OD hose, I was thinking of just buying a section of heater hose if we didn't already have some sitting around in a roll. After looking it up, it looks like there is some sort of special end on it, though. Does this sound right? I've not looked too close at the engine side of the hose.

It's flared to help slip over the fitting, but you can try a straight piece of water heater hose and see if it works or do as some people have done. Just cut the bad part of the hose out and use a piece of brass/galvanized tubing and clamps to join the pieces back together.Item #19. much better idea! thanks, OPT. I figure I'll try to put a loom on the edge of that steel vertical piece, but I like the idea of a metal connector, so that it's not rubber on metal again.

Thanks, again!

I picked up a 3/4" copper coupler for this splice piece. Everything else I saw seemed like it was going to narrow down the cross section too much to make me comfortable. I heated the hose with a hair dryer and pushed the coupler inside. It's pretty tight, to say the least, but I won't restrict the flow. I'll clamp each side, obviously.

Does this sound about right?

Sounds good. I've had several customers do this because of hoses rubbing against the vertical frame piece. Flow isn't restricted.Just zip tie some loom against the vertical piece plus loom on the spliced in piece should solve any future problems. Don't forget to leave the radiator cap open to bleed any trapped air in the system.

What I ended up doing was putting some door edge molding on the edge of that vertical piece. Then I zip tied a hose to it (hose cut lengthwise). The way I see it is if the hose ever vibrates out of position or gets torn off, somehow, the sharp edge is not present anymore with the edge molding there.
