fuel valve

On the 2002 sportsman 700 to which side does each fuel line go on the fuel valve? I know facing the front of atv the left side of the tank is reserve and right side is main is it the same as facing the fuel valve ?

Doesn't matter as there is only one exit line from the fuel valve that goes to the fuel pump gas inlet at the top of the fuel pump.Just have the lines straight with no kinks. The nipple below the inlet is the exit fuel line to the carb. The angled nipple is the vacuum(pulse) line that goes to the right side of the carb vacuum nipple.Dirt Cheap Yamaha, Honda, Arctic Cat & Polaris OEM Parts & Accessories – Cycle Parts Warehouse Dirt Cheap Yamaha, Honda, Arctic Cat & Polaris OEM Parts & Accessories – Cycle Parts Warehouse
Sorry! does matter, forgot about the deeper reserve filter. Closest line on the fuel tank to the fuel valve(ON) goes to the left side of the valve, reserve side to the right...If I remember correctly.

I have the fuel valve switched to on position and I look in the tank and it's bone dry and I know how much I could ride it before it would start to sputter and have to switch to reserve, but it hasn't done that sense I put it back together I believe I have them crossed and running of reserve side the whole time while in on position, and I would hate to ruin out of gas.

Sorry didn't catch your last part and that has to be right cause I have them crossed I believe cause like I said it hasn't sputtered in (on) position cause I know I'm low on gas, so I'll switch them and leave it on (on) position and see if it dies after I ride a few
