Default 850xp cutting off

my 09 had some issues last yr that made it so i could not ride last yr it was in the shop all yr long. it started cutting off after wot but i could cycle the emc and it would start back up and run for awhile. finally it would not start so i took it to the popo shop and they found the timing gear and chain had broke. so they took the head off and fixed the top end with valves polishing timing parts and whatever else they had to do. i got it back and it did the same thing cutting off. so i sent it back and they had to get polaris to look at it and they found a connector on the main harness was bad. they then put a new harness on and it worked fine for awhile. now its cutting off again but can cycle the emc and it starts back up. it does throw a code but it has not been back in the shop to get checked out. any thoughts on what could be causing this issue?

Whatcha mean by cycle the "emc" Are talking about the ecu module either switching the ignition switch off and on or unplugging it,replugging it back? Plus could be as simple as a thermal circuit breaker getting hot? Usually in a sealed pouch located on the harness leading down to the fuse block. Shows item#9,but doesn't show it's location. Look at the very top of the parts list. Dirt Cheap Yamaha, Honda, Arctic Cat & Polaris OEM Parts & Accessories – Cycle Parts Warehouse Plus still could be a wiring problem from the tps or t-map sensor that aftermarket kits are available for.Only The Best

Did they replace the crank when they tore it down, or did they only do the top end? The gear on the crank is pressed on and can slip, which in turn will throw the timing off. Only way to fix that is with a new crank and gear. Not an uncommon issue with the 850 when run at WOT for any extended period. Check the timing and see if that is your problem again.

I know this sounds stupid, but is the key getting shut off? My 2012 550 would just shut off sometimes. I realized that when I turned the handlebars far enough the key chain caught on the plastic and turned the engin off. It always restarted and ran great, but was a mystery for a while.
